2009 Catfishin' Report

Jan. 1:  Cold and windy.....bait was hard to get, fished in HWD area and we had zero bites all day.
Jan. 2: Got my Gill net license at Dance's Sporting Goods in Colonial Heights so I'm covered for 2009 season.
Jan. 3: Clear skies with a high of 51 degrees. Bait was easy. Fished in DB area  15, 18 and a 28 lber.
Jan. 24:  Partly cloudy with a high of 49 degrees. Bait was easy.  Fished the DG area.  34 and a 35 lber.
Feb. 7:  Clear skies with a high in the low 60's. Bait was terrible. Fished DB area. 22 and a 46 lber.
Mar. 8: Partly cloudy with a high in the upper 70's. Bait was tough before sunrise but after sunrise it was easy to get.
          fished DB area 22 and a 44 lber.
Apr. 18: Bait was tough around Osborne Landing area, took out two guest on a fishing trip and ended up with
                the largest catfish being in the 10 lb range.
Apr. 19: Bait was easy at DB area, setup at 1:30 am slow fishing until first light, ended up with largest cat being in
                the 13-14 lb range.
May     : Took Matt out on the pontoon to see if we couldn't hook him up with a nice cat to get his PB.  Well we ended up
                getting him 2 PB's, first one was a 35 lber and then the second was a 37 lber. Both cats were located up river
                from Osborne Landing.
May 11: Went out at midnight out of Deep Bottom and hooked up with a 48 lber and several in the teens.  All cats were
                taken by cut bait (gizzard shad) in depths of 10 to 14 ft..
